The Company

Established in 1945, MATISA has been a pioneer in mechanizing railway works. With eight subsidiaries globally, MATISA is known for its commitment to quality, reliability, and safety in the construction of railway maintenance equipment. Thanks to its persistent research efforts, MATISA benefits from state-of-the-art technologies in the field of track construction and maintenance.

The Challenge

MATISA confronted significant challenges in transitioning to 3D design and centralizing data for collaborative work within their technical department.
These obstacles resulted in slower design processes and hindered effective teamwork among team members.

ThinkDesign as a Solution

MATISA decided to implement ThinkDesign - and later ThinkTeamPDM - in multiple departments, including Mechanical and Electrical, Methods and Scheduling, CNC programming, Oxyfuel Cutting, Purchasing department, and Documentation department. Other departments access CAD data via the DPT viewer, TDViewerPlus.

MANAGING LARGE ASSEMBLIES

Being a manufacturer of huge machines, MATISA selected ThinkDesign for its exceptional ability to efficiently handle very large assemblies. ThinkDesign's advanced capabilities provide the company with the tools needed to effectively manage complex projects while maintaining high standards of quality and precision. ThinkDesign enables them to manage large assemblies with ease, facilitating streamlined design processes and enhancing overall productivity. With faster loading times, the design team can work more efficiently, reducing downtime and focusing their efforts on refining designs and innovating solutions.

I've witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of integrating both ThinkDesign and ThinkTeam into our workflow. ThinkDesign's efficiency in handling large assemblies has revolutionized how we tackle complex projects. Meanwhile, ThinkTeam serves as a centralized hub, seamlessly managing our data flow and enhancing collaboration across departments.
Together, ThinkDesign and ThinkTeam have truly optimized our manufacturing processes.

PDM INTEGRATION: THINKTEAM

The integration of ThinkTeam within ThinkDesign has proven to be a game-changer for MATISA, facilitating centralized data management and fostering collaboration across departments. Also, ThinkTeam's integration with the company’s ERP system streamlines data transfer, ensuring that articles and lists of parts created within ThinkTeam are automatically transferred into the ERP, reducing manual errors. By allowing different users to collaborate on multiple projects and providing easy access to information, ThinkTeam facilitates smoother workflows and accelerates decision-making processes. The implementation of ThinkTeam has yielded significant benefits for MATISA, such as reducing time to market, streamlining the development process and increasing standardization.

ANSYS INTEGRATION

Thanks to ThinkDesign’s integration with Ansys, MATISA can enhance the daily workflow of engineers in the Calculation and Mechanical departments. This integration enables them to ensure a smooth transition from CAD design to simulation. Moreover, it allows to get precise predictions concerning the behavior of their products under real-world operating conditions. This includes accurate simulations of stress, strain, and heat distribution.

CREATING TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION

MATISA also uses ThinkDesign to improve their customer documentation for spare parts and instruction manuals. In this way, they are able to keep documentation up-to-date and ensure it complies with industry standards, thus enhancing their customers’ experience and support.

Conclusion

ThinkDesign and ThinkTeam have played a crucial role in enhancing MATISA’s design processes, collaboration, and overall efficiency in producing high-quality machines for the construction and the maintenance of railway lines. As MATISA continues to expand and innovate, DPT’s software solutions remain essential among the company’s tools for meeting customer needs and staying ahead in the industry.
